... the internet is so big, and my speed-reading so very slow, but this made me laugh a lot (as well as making an extremely good point)

Dear Adam, your old mate Johnny Bird. Kept away for awhile but thought I ought to be in touch. Anyway I'm doing a thing called "Naked Bird" at Edinburgh, about the struggle to tell the truth. I thought that as you and I have found it diffiuclt to always tell the truth -me becuase of me poverty, you because of your plenty- you might be interested in promoting it. Maybe we could reminsnise about the old days again. trully Johnny.
Or... we could not. Let's let bygones be bygones, eh?
But, er... my plenty of what? I've never earned anything like as much as the paypacket you were getting 6 years ago when I left the Big Issue. But perhaps things have changed.
I'm one of the team of hacks at Private Eye magazine, where I've worked on and off since 1997. I'm also an editorial lieutenant on Popbitch (not sure what it means: we made up the job titles in the pub). I've written for a number of other newspapers and magazines, been a co-presenter on LBC, a regular newspaper reviewer on Sky News and written a biography of the Victorian businessman and philanthropist William Lever. My first novel, Topped of the Pops, a comedy thriller, was to be published in May 2008, until the publishers went bust. From 1999-2002 I was deputy editor of The Big Issue.
